What’s that smell? (sniff, sniff, sniff)
Why it’s Al Gore’s “global warming’ BS stinking up the place!
Talk about a load of crap! Gore is engaging in a classic Sorelian move, creating a ‘myth’ to move the masses to action.
He’s even got the likes of Al Sharpton and Pat Robertson joining together in an ad promoting Al’s cause. What’s next, Pelosi and Limbaugh hosting a love-in for GW?!
Gore recently said, “In ten years the ice cap from Kilimanjaro will be gone forever.” While this may in fact happen someday, it won’t be from GW as he claims. Research from real scientists, (you know the ones that actually go there and engage in gathering real data and responding with real facts), even some who support GW, say the recession of the ice cap is due to lack of snow and evaporation of the ice without thawing.
There is no doubt the inhabitants of this planet all need to take part in the total preservation of our resources and environment. There is room for thoughtful, constructive discussion resulting in thoughtful, constructive action. Preaching gloom and doom like Chicken Little does not qualify.
Gore has made a career out of exaggeration, and his GW rants are no exception. Because there is so much information and scientific evidence to contradict his claims, the true message and credibility of global preservation, (my term, henceforth referred to as GP and used in place of GW), suffers. (read this http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071221/NATION/844993096/1001 )
Gore’s practice of talking down to, preaching to, and shaming people only reaches those already in his camp.
Other than a few really disturbed people, nobody wants the earth to self destruct under their feet. But they also don’t want a bunch of worthless information creating a bunch of worthless legislation that accomplishes nothing and infringes upon their lives.
A classic example is the federal legislation mandating the water usage for commodes in America. Legislation aimed at saving water wasted by the older models resulted in a product that often requires multiple flushes to do what the old one did with a single flush. The result, more water used. Brillant! (go here for an article about this http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/081099/opi_Tuedit3_.html )
I’m not saying we should end the GP discussion, nor am I saying there aren’t problems to fix, and future ones to prevent.
I’m saying Al Gore needs to take a whiff of what he’s spreading and find a way to change the direction he is taking the GP discussion.
